The majority of married men these days wear Wedding Rings - only some 10 to 20% don’t in fact. A modern phenomenon, the male Wedding Ring now is an ever present at 21st Century Weddings.

However, selecting the gents ring isn't just a matter of going along with what the wife-to-be says. You need it to be practical, stylish and fitting in with your personality. Men generally are not too familiar with jewellery (unless you’re a darts player that is!) and can feel awkward talking about it. But don’t bury your head in the sand and just accept whatever the first ring is you see. Instead have a thorough read of the information in this article and select your ring like a pro – Bobby George and Eric Bristow would be so proud!

There are four main things to consider before choosing your Wedding Ring, and these are outlined in detail below.

Your Lifestyle

Everybody’s lifestyle is different. Some men are the sporty type, whilst others prefer just watching it, some men sit behind a desk all day when others work with heavy duty machinery. Whichever category you fall into, you should think about an average week and the wear and tear that a Wedding ring will suffer.

Of course your ring can be removed to avoid unnecessary damage, but if it will spend more time off then on, then perhaps you may wish to opt for something a little more unusual that isn’t restricted by your lifestyle. Smaller, thinner Wedding bands are more susceptible to damage whilst larger, sturdier ones will withstand a lot of what life can throw at them.

If you are a very active person who intends to always wear their Wedding Ring, then you may have no option but to go for a bulkier design, but if you favour the couch and computer to the outdoors and equipment, then your options are less limited.
