If you’ve already read the articles entitled The Groom's Wedding Ring and The Bride's Wedding Ring, now it’s time to throw a few more thoughts into the melting pot that you may not yet have considered.
Matching Rings
Many couples these days opt to have matching rings. The rings need not be an identical match, but there is often a close similarity between them. Gents tend to opt for a wider version of the same design whilst ladies may opt to include a gemstone for example, but on the whole the rings are similar. If both of you have strong thoughts as to your ring preference, and they are widely different, then ‘matching’ rings is perhaps not a wise choice. However, if they are both along the same lines, then a few minor tweaks here and there and you could be staring at the romantic ‘matching’ ring situation – worth a thought.
Engraving
If the rings you are after are different (or even if they are ‘matching’) then another way to unite them is through engraving. Along the inner band of the ring, a quote, the Wedding date, your initials or anything else that takes your fancy can be engraved for a small cost. An engraving can be made in a number of fonts to suit the couples style and as long as the style of the ring permits it, it can be a wonderful addition to a beautiful piece of jewellery. On top of the obvious benefits just discussed, if you do get the date of your Wedding inscribed on this inside of the band, you can never have an excuse for forgetting your anniversary!
