The first place to check out is your local high street. Packed full of jewellers all competing for your custom, this is an ideal place to go in and try on. You should visit at least three jewellers and repeat the same process in all three:

    1. Look in the shop window.
    2. Go in and get your fingers measured.
    3. Try a couple of different designs on.
    4. Listen to the jewellers ideas for what they think would best suit.
    5. Finally, ask questions about costs and lead times.

Carrying out his process in three or more jewellers will allow you to know exactly what size ring you’re after, which styles suit you, and how much you should be looking at paying for the style of ring you like.

You are no longer confined to purchasing rings from a high street jeweller of course. The recent emergence of the internet has led to on-line jewellers springing up all over the world and you can buy from them with a click of a button. Buying on-line is certainly something that we wouldn’t put you off doing, but it is unwise to buy before you try – even if you are convinced that you have seen the ring online for you, go out and try one on that is similar just to make certain. Online jewellery stores can provide exceptional value for money (and of course you can buy from overseas and them have shipped across so the choice is even wider) but is important you do a little research about the company before you buy from them. Simple internet searches (or a search for jewellers in the Weddingsday Supplier Directory!) should give you a favourable or less favourable impression of the store and determine whether or not you can trust them.
