Everyone at the wedding will have a role of some description or another. From the person who performing the service, to the relatives who drink too much and become a talking point for the other guests - there's something that everyone will be remembered for.
OK, perhaps some of the roles are more minor than others and are ones that we would happily do without! And on the other hand, there are some roles that you don't need to have any worries about - ones that will be fulfilled without the need for any guidance or instruction. We will let you decide which ones are which!
However, there will be some folk at the wedding who will have a crucial part to play in the day but will not be familiar with what they need to do. These guys and gals will need to know well in advance what is expected of them and understand just what their roles and responsibilities are. Alongside the Bride & Groom, these chosen few are collectively referred to as the 'Wedding Party' (or Bridal Party), and here are the main players:
Of course, not all of the wedding party roles need to be taken up, and couples are not legally required to have any at all (in fact, only two witnesses over the age of sixteen are needed and neither the Bride or Groom has to even know them!). But assuming that there will be at least some of the above wedding party members involved in the big day, then it is well worthwhile taking a look at just exactly what each is expected to help out with.
This section has articles dedicated to each member of the wedding party - so whether you're the Best Man, Father of the Bride, Chief Bridesmaid or whatever, you have also come to the right place. We also have some articles for the Bride and Groom to take a look at which highlight what to look for when picking someone for each wedding party role (obviously it may be quite difficult to select alternative parents for the day but that shouldn't stop you trying!).
