Long Sleeves
Long sleeves go from the shoulder down to the wrist.
Like all sleeve options mentioned in this article, they can be made from either a heavy satin or a light and floaty chiffon (or indeed any other fabric which is being used to make your dress). |

Bell/Flared Sleeve
Bell/flared sleeves are typically wrist length, although occasionally only ¾ length.
A popular shape, particularly for medieval styled dresses, the bell/flared sleeve is tailored to the elbow at which point it flares out (in a similar way to an A-Line skirt) to the wrist. Alternatively, should the wearer want to create alot of volume around the lower part of the sleeve, additional material (in a bell or flared shape) can be attached in folds at the elbow to create a fuller look. |

Strapless
Technically, this is more of a neckline style as opposed to a sleeve or strap option, but it is wise to touch on it here.
As the name explains, it is devoid of both straps and sleeves and it finishes at the top of the bodice.
Check out our article entitled Necklines to which options which work well with a strapless design. |
