High Collar

High Collar necklines donít take much describing - in fact, you could probably guess what they look like without any help from us, but we will do so anyway! The top half of the dress reaches all the way up to the shoulders and extends a little way up the neck - think of dog collars worn by the clergy.

This style works well sleeveless but can be combined with a range of sleeves to give a regal look for a formal affair.

Off the Shoulder

The straps of this simple neckline curve outwards and sit perfectly on the tip of the shoulder.

The top line will sit just above the bust, then flow outwards in a gentle curve to the outer edge of the shoulders.

Off the shoulder necklines can work well with a whole host of sleeves or straps - check out the article entitled Straps & Sleeves to view the options available.

The slash neckline is another recent fashion development in the Wedding dress world, though due to the relative simplicity of the design, it is one which has timeless beauty.

A slash neckline is basically one where the material used for the front and back is joined at the shoulders. The line of the dress is cut straight across, rather than having a hole for the neck cut in.

A seductive twist on this very modest design is to have the back part cut away - very alluring but not great for those requiring a bra!
