This article is dedicated to those couples whose wedding reception is being held in a seperate venue to their wedding ceremony. It takes a closer look at who the transport needs to be arranged for, who will travel with whom and other essential wedding reception car info.

Who Will Require a Wedding Reception Car?

When it comes to wedding reception cars, the first thing to determine is who exactly the transport needs to be arranged for.

Typically, and much the same as with transport to the wedding ceremony, your wedding guests will make their own travel arrangements. This is not to say that you cannot organise a wedding bus or other method of travel to transport them about - just make sure they are all aware of your plans before the big day!

As with the wedding guests, the Ushers and parents of the Groom also usually make their own way onwards from the wedding ceremony. That said, again you don't have to follow tradition and can arrange wedding reception cars for them should you wish.

This leaves you with the following list of definites who traditionally wedding reception cars will need to be arranged for:

Weddingsday The Mother & Father of the Bride

Weddingsday The Chief Bridesmaids

Weddingsday The Bridesmaids

Who Leaves Together and in Which Order?

The typical make-up of the journey from wedding ceremony to wedding reception will be as follows:

Weddingsday The Bride and Groom leave together (they are now married after all!), and arrive at the wedding reception venue first albeit certain guests may already be there.

Weddingsday The Bridesmaids and Best Man leave together in the same vehicle and arrive at the wedding reception venue shortly after the Bride and Groom.

Weddingsday The Father and Mother of the Bride leave together and arrive at the wedding reception venue last albeit certain guests may follow soon after.

What Reception Cars/Transport Can be Used?

In virtually all situations, the same vehicles that were used to transport the wedding party to the wedding ceremony will be used again to ferry the key players onto the wedding reception - however this is not, and need not, always be the case for the Bride and Groom.

The journey from wedding ceremony to wedding reception will be the first ever one that the Bride and Groom take together as a married couple, so why not make it a memorable one? Swapping from vintage wedding cars to something wierd and wacky - a JCB, fire engine, tuc tuc or alike - will make a big impact that both the happy couple and their guests will remember forever. Granted, it is an unneccessary expense, but let's face it, you'll never get another chance so why not!

Wedding reception cars can be shared and used to make multiple trips, but the length of the journey to the wedding reception venue and seating capacity of the vehicles must be carefully considered before opting for this. Check out our wedding vehicles article for an in-depth guide to the various modes of wedding transportation available.
