Unless you have been married before or have been heavily involved in the planning of a friend or relatives wedding, then you are probably asking yourself right now ‘Where Do I Start?’, possibly with a few expletives thrown in for good measure!
Knowing what you need to organise, who can assist, when things need to be done by, how much everything tends to cost, how much you have to spend and what needs to be done straight away allows you to pull together a full plan for the Big Day. The various pages throughout the planning section will allow you to gain a better understanding in all of these areas.
So let’s look at everything you need to plan in a little more detail.
Firstly, you need to know what it is exactly you are planning, and the answer is, well, pretty much everything. The What Needs Planning? article will give you a brief overview of each of the various things you need to do. It also helps at this stage to know that you are not alone. The Help Is At Hand article may help put your mind at ease.
Next of all you need to know when everything needs to be organised by – a timeline leading up to the Wedding Day if you like. Sure, you know that you need to order flowers, but when? The Countdown article will detail all the various activities that need to be carried out and suggested timescales for each and we suggest that you may want to try out our Wedding Details tool in MyWeddingsday to help guide you through the months and perhaps years ahead.
One element central to everything that is happening on the day is, of course, money. Our detailed Budgeting artciles will explain how to set a budget, sources of money, average wedding costs and much more. A comprehensive Wedding Budgeter tool is also freely available once registered under the MyWeddingsday tab. All in all, unless you have unlimited funds, (in which case, can I have some?) effective money management is critical to the success of your wedding and you will find the Budgeting articles invaluable.
Finally the First Things First articles outline the tasks that you need to be thinking about straight away. It may seem a little strange that there are things that you need to get on with right now, but the sooner these things are ironed out, the easier the rest of the planning will become.
