AMATEUR VIDEOGRAPHY

 

 

 

Many couples will be lucky enough to have a friend or relative with their own video equipment who offers to fulfill the videography role on the day. However, to immediately take them up on this kind offer is akin to having someone with an oven bake your cake!

 

 

 

If you have read any of the Weddingsday articles on videography, you will have quickly determined that there is a lot more to the whole filming process than just a half-decent video camera and a steady hand.

 

So, for any couples out there who are contemplating heading down the DIY Videography route, we strongly suggest that you take a look at the pro's and con's of doing so before you make any decisons.

Pro’s

• The number one pro is the price. Rather than spending four figures on a professional, you get it done for less than the cost of four pints.

• The familiarity. Chances are that the amateur cameraman will already know up to half the guests and may well know either the Bride or Groom very well also. Forget the phrase ‘familiarity breeds contempt’, in this case ‘familiarity breeds a relaxed atmosphere’.

 

Con’s

• Quality. Unless your cameraman is a Quentin Tarantino in the making, then chances are that you will have more of a Blair Witch Project style movie on your hand than a Kill Bill masterpiece.
