Transport to the Service needs to be arranged for the Bride and Groom, Father and Mother of the Bride, Best Man and Bridesmaids.

In some cases, certain individuals (often the Groom and Best Man) may be staying overnight at the Service venue and thus good old shanks’ pony will suffice for them! Should this not be the case, then you will need to arrange at least one but, more than likely, two or three vehicles may need to be organised for transportation.

The typical make-up of the journeys will be as follows:

  • The Groom and Best Man leave together, usually from the Groom’s home, and arrive at the Service venue first.
  • The Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride leave together, usually from the Brides parent’s home, and arrive at the Service venue shortly after the Groom and Best Man. The Bridesmaids will wait outside for the arrival of the Bride whilst the Mother of the Bride is escorted to her seat by one of the Ushers.
  • The Bride and Father of the Bride leave together, usually from the Brides parent’s home and arrive at the Service venue last, shortly after the Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride.

It is possible for vehicles to be shared, and you can get away with booking just one, but remember that if the Reception is to be held in a different location to the Service then the vehicles will need to be shared once more, or alternative transportation will need to be arranged. In the majority of cases, these vehicles will be used again so think about them in a wider context than just transport to the Service.

The mode of transport for each of the three journeys set out above is entirely down to you to decide. That said, we strongly suggest that you have a read of the Factors to Consider article and take a look at the different transport options covered elsewhere in this section before making your final decision.
