American Classics
Cadillacs, Chevrolets and Buicks are probably the most common names in the US Classics market and if you need to be able to picture one, think ‘Grease’ or one of those American movies with a ‘Drive-In’ scene. Obviously as they are from the States, they are quite rare and as such will turn heads, although the level of comfort is compromised for radical styling and visual stunning looks. With similar prices to European Classics (£250-£350) they are a well priced alternative to the norm, but as there are far fewer suppliers, your opportunity to negotiate discounts is drastically reduced.
Horse & Carriage
Arriving by Horse & Carriage, what could be more romantic? As a result of the ambience that such a vehicle creates, Horse & Carriages for Wedding transport is still as popular as ever (well maybe not as much as before cars were invented, but you know what we mean). Normally unrestricted by weather conditions (make sure you confirm this, but it shouldn’t be a problem) and one of the least likely modes to break down (unless the horse spots another horse in a passing field and get's frisky!), the Horse and Carriage is a wonderful option if the route avoids busy roads and isn’t too far. Differing styles of coaches are available, with the most popular being the landau, although more American styled stagecoaches are available if you shop about. Not as comfortable as say a Modern Luxury vehicle, but making much more of a statement and coming with dapper uniformed driver and groom, you can expect to pay around £400 to £500 for such an experience – just make sure the carriage you book has a roof, convertible or otherwise.
If none of the vehicles described above appeals to you, take a look at the Traditional or Alternative Transport articles for more ideas.
