Going Away transport only needs to be arranged for the Bride and Groom on their journey to the Honeymoon, and generally this is more low key than the other Wedding transport.

Depending upon whether the couple leaves on the night of the Wedding or a day or two later will effect the number of people there to see you off. The former will often result in whole of the Wedding Party plus all of your guests waving goodbye before they return inside to drink the bar dry, whilst the latter may mean you leave alone or with a handful of people there to see you off. The time you leave will often have a big effect on what method of transport is used - after all if you are going to head off in some flambouyant vehicle, it is always better if there is a crowd full of people to see it happen!

The most common method used for the going away transportis the Bride/Groom’s car. Typically decorated in balloons, foam, banners, empty cans that trail behind on a piece of string and other garish objects, the car provides a convenient, but often embarrassing mode of transport away from the Reception. Obviously you need to be sober to drive and probably need to factor in a few extra minutes onto your journey to pull over and remove the embarrassing paraphernalia, but on the whole the car can be a convenient, cheap and fun mode of transport to your Honeymoon.

The taxi is another common method of transport, although a much duller one. Decoration of the vehicle will not be allowed, unless you have a very friendly driver with a big tip in their pocket, and it is not particularly glamorous. That said, you need not be stone cold sober and don’t have to struggle getting parked, so it’s not all bad news. An alternative to the taxi is to rope in some kind friend relative to drive you to the airport/hotel. You may have more scope to decorate this car, but if the journey is a long one, finding a volunteer could prove tricky!

Finally, for those of you leaving on the night of your Wedding, a more dramatic exit can be achieved in a hired vehicle. Be it helicopter, stretch Hummer, or Ferrari, whatever you choose, you have a captive audience whom you can wow with style, so why not go for it. Granted it is the most expensive option and perhaps not the most practical, but think of the faces on all those who see you zoom off into the sunset!

Whatever you choose, think about the practicalities as well as the glamour and why not have a look at the Factors to Consider article and have a read of the different transport options we highlight elsewhere in this section before making your final decision.
