Unless you really want to, there is absolutely no need to state the reason for the recall, but be sure to expect some prying questions in the near future! If the Wedding is due to happen soon, then phone calls to every guest in turn is suitable – you could even rope in Wedding party members to help out if there is a lot of calls to make. Of course the downside with phone calls is the ‘why?’ question which will undoubtedly be raised and there is no getting away from, so make sure that you have your story straight!

Once the date has been re-arranged, then a second invite should be issued and worded along the lines of:

Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson

Are pleased to announce the wedding of their daughter

Miss Joanna Johnson

To

Mr. Tom McCoy

Which was postponed, will now take place

At 11.15am on November 23rd 2003

At St. John’s Church, Egglescliffe

And afterwards at
Harbourne House, Kirklevington

If you are in the sad position of needing to cancel the Wedding altogether, firstly, our commiserations. The cancellation of a Wedding is a difficult time for all and you probably have no idea where to start, but hopefully the detail below can help to steer you in the right direction.
