What to do?
No longer is it ‘two pints of lager and a pack of crisps’ at the local drinking hole that you are restricted to. From Party Buses to Murder Mystery Nights, Golfing Breaks to Pole Dancing Lessons (ladies only I would suggest, but whatever takes you fancy) the options really are limitless.
It is important that you have an understanding of what the Bride or Groom really wants to do and that you are not swayed by your own or others views. You do not need to find out exact requirements, but just the overall type of activity they are interesed in - be it sporty, pampering or drunken. Where your skills lie, are in taking the information given to you by the Bride or Groom-to-be, thinking about the attendees and arriving at a suitable activity that all will remember and enjoy. Granted, this may sound tricky, but there are plenty of articles with suggestions on the site which will help to point you in the right direction - why not take a look?
What is the budget?
The budget needs to be considered alongside the type of activity, the location and list of attendees. If the people coming along are of the opinion that money is of no object, then this isn’t really an issue. However, in most circumstances they won’t be, so you will need to think long and hard about how much they realistically will be able to spend. Better still, why not ask them direct? You will be surprised at how much people are prepared to lay out for a good old knees-up for a close friend, and if you inform them well enough in advance, they should have time to save up that extra bit of cash.
Whilst it is by no means ‘Wedding law’, you may also wish to consider arranging for everyone to put a little extra into the kitty. The idea behind this is to either pay outright, or to buy something special, for the Bride or Groom-to be. It is also likely that you will need to coordinate the funds, so make sure you know how much any deposits are, and when they need to be paid. On top of this you will also need to know when balances are due and more importantly, who has paid and who hasn’t.
