As many people will tell you, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time, and with regards Stag and Hen Nights it is no different.
In the past, a night out at you local, or for those a little more adventurous, a pub crawl around your local town or village was as exotic as it got. However, these days I bet you all know at least one person who has travelled away from home to celebrate, be it national or international.
Of course there is nothing wrong with staying local, in fact there is a lot to be said for doing so. First of all, if you are within travelling distance of the location, you don't need to budget for accommodation costs which frees up a substantial amount of cash for whatever activity you are embarking upon. Secondly, the cheaper costs encourage a larger turnout and people tend to be far more relaxed if they are familiar with their surroundings. That said, you will need to consider taxi or mini bus fares (or perhaps even a limo!) and give thought to those travelling from afar, particular thought to where they will stay overnight needs to be given. Wherever you live, chances are that there is something nearby to suit your needs – if in doubt, ask your mates or carry out a quick internet search to track something down.
For those of you who feel like you want to get away or if what you're after is more than a short drive away, then why not look elsewhere.
Dependent upon what activity you plan to get up to will depend upon where you head off to for your Stag or Hen celebration. Many activities can be local, but for specific sporting activities such as White Water Rafting or abseiling, the Lake and Peak Districts are some of the prime spots. Other activities will send you to all corners of the UK, but all will be within touching distance of a local town or city if you want to head out on the town on the night.
