Distance to Reception

In the majority of cases the reception venue will be the same as that which you get married in. However, in some cases, particularly those weddings held at Register Offices, the reception venue will be different, so again you should think about how far it is acceptable for both you and your guests to travel when leaving the ceremony.

Easy / hard to find

When thinking about distance and location also pay careful attention to how difficult the venue is to find. How well signposted is it? Is it down small and windy country roads? Will inclement weather make it difficult to get to? These and other factors should all be considered prior to making your final decision – after all you don’t want the guests to arrive half way through, or worse still, not at all!

Parking
Parking at the Ceremony venue is of obvious importance. Many venues will have their own parking facilities – but are they sufficient for how many guests you are inviting? Try to get an idea of how many vehicles you will need spaces for, how many other guests are likely to be at the venue that day for other functions, and how far away from the actual venue the parking is (especially important in the case of Register Office weddings).

Seating capacity

Much the same as for parking, look to ensure that the venue you choose has sufficient capacity to seat all the guests. Sometimes (but by no means always) you will find that guests who have only been invited to the Evening Reception will also turn up for the Ceremony. With this in mind, factor in the need for an extra 5-10% of seats when making your assessment.
