Reading/Music

This point in the ceremony provides the second natural opportunity to include a reading or piece of music, though again, as previously mentioned, couples will need approval from their Registrar to do so.

Signing of the Register

As husband and wife, the couple, along with their two chosen witnesses will Sign the Register. At this point in the Ceremony, it is customary for music to be played to entertain the guests as this can take a few minutes.

Exit of the Bride & Groom

The Bride and Groom, as husband and wife, will lead the marriage procession accompanied by music (again harpists, string quartets or a track from a CD are options).

A
nd that’s it – you’re now officially husband and wife!

For those couples who wish to incorporate a religious element to your Wedding but have your heart set on a Civil Ceremony, then you may want to think about a Blessing. In short, a Blessing is a religious service performed at Church at the permission of, and by, the Minister following a Civil Ceremony (often after you return from Honeymoon). If you are interested in one, speak to your local vicar who will be able to provide you with some more information or check back on Weddingsday in 2007 when an article on Blessings will be available.
