Wedding hymns are traditional pieces of music, beautifully written, often uplifting and are typically used to help involve the guests in a way in which no other element of a church wedding service can match.
The inclusion of wedding hymns in the ceremony is not essential, but it does add an increased level of spiritual meaning – dare we point out that they also increase the length of the ceremony helping you to get ‘better value for money’, and also add extra entertainment to the proceedings – there we’ve said it!
Normally, up to three hymns can be incorporated into a church wedding service featuring at the beginning, middle and end, but this is at the discretion of your Minister so make sure you check out what options are open to you before making the final decision.
There are many hymns to choose from, some popular, some less familiar. However, unless the vast majority of your guests are deeply into their religion, then it is probably best to steer away from the more obscure hymns, unless you want to be the only ones singing that is! You'll find that even with the words right in front of them, if guests have no idea of the tune then they normally mutter there way through the verses or worse still, mime!
The following wedding hymns are some of our favourites, but if you've got some you'ld like us to add to the list, simply drop us an e-mail and we’ll do the rest.
We have scoured the internet and all of the following hymns are available to listen to in a MIDI format. To hear them, your computer will need to be fitted with a sound card and speakers or headphones and they will play via your systems media player shortly after you click the link. If you do not have a media player installed, there are a number available for free download from the web – we recommend RealPlayer.
