A truly formal affair requires drinks in all the right places.  A welcome drink should be served to guest on their arrival at the reception venue where the service and reception are held at the same venue, welcome drinks should be provided to guests after the ceremony.

Whilst you can choose to serve any drink at your wedding there are a number of popular welcome drinks:

  • Champagne or Sparkling Wine
  • Kir Royale (above with Kirsh - cherry liquor)
  • Bucks Fizz (with orange juice instead of Kirsh)
  • Pimms & Lemonade
  • Fruit Punch
  • Mulled Wine (great for winter wedding)

Do think about your guest who are either too young to drink, choose not to drink or are driving and can't drink.  As such you may wish to provide a soft drink alternative, perhaps orange juice or you could always serve an alcohol-free fruit punch.
