Your Wedding Cake can be used as the dessert to either your sit down meal (afternoon reception) or your Evening Buffet.  In fact it can be used for both.  As already discussed in the Wedding Cake Section you will need to inform the venue when you want to serve it, how many pieces it needs to be cut into and any special instructions – such as don’t cut the top tier or serve all of tier 2 and half of tier 3.

If you want to serve the cake as the dessert course of your meal you will need to be up pretty quickly after your main course as it will take some cutting for it to be served for your guests.  Having said that it could save you upwards of around £4 per head.

If you do choose to serve it as the dessert for your meal you will probably get the remainder cut and placed on platters to accompany any savoury dishes you are serving in the evening.

If you prefer to serve a formal dessert with your meal you can choose whether you want to cut the cake after the Wedding Breakfast if finished or at the start of the evening do.  Typically if you cut it after the meal (& speeches) your guests, regardless of how full they are, will expect a piece so if you want to deep it all back for the evening do you should consider waiting to cut it.
