When selecting a drink for your toast you can pretty much pick anything you like. Traditionally the toast of choice is champagne as what better way to toast the happy couple than with the most “luxurious” drink available.

If you want to serve something slightly different consider a more cost effective sparkling wine or if you want to stick with the exclusive, consider beautiful pink champagne.

You need to allow one glass per person and a bottle of champagne normally serves 8. The idea being that each guest will lift their glass (and take a sip) with each of the speeches as each speech should end with a 'toast'.

For more detail on the speeches check out our other articles.

Historically it is good luck for everyone to participate in the toasts so consider asking the venue to provide a soft drink alternative for the youngsters or non-drinkers on your guest list to get your life together off on a good footing.
