If you've roped in any DJ or band to perform on the evening, it is likely that they will provide some form of lightling of their own, but often the venue has their own disco balls and alike they wheel out for such special occassions. If you feel you would like to create even more decorative disco lights, there are a number of suppliers around the country who will hire them out for a small fee, but often those that 'come naturally' are sufficient.

So if you don't have to part your cash with disco or strobe lights, what other options do you have?

Well first of all let's talk a bit more about the most common type of lighting that couples will bring on board - fairy lights.

Fairy lights can be used both indoors and outdoors and don't cost a huge amount of cash, regardless of whether you are buying or hiring them. Draped across the ceiling of your room, particularly marquees, fairy lights come in to their own on an evening and provide ready made mood lighting for your first dance. Outdoors, particularly from April to September, fairy lights can add a little bit of magic to the outdoor areas that your guests are likely to frequent. Even during the winter months, arriving guests will be suitably impressed and enthralled by the enchanting atmosphere created by fairy lights around the entrance. Available in all white or multicoloured lights, and both static (always on) and twinkling/flashing, there is bound to be an option that fits perfectly with your day.

For those of you looking for something a little different in the lighting department, why not opt for glow bands, glow sticks or even illuminated ice cubes and stirrers! For any beach themeed wedding, or simply to create a relaxed and party atmosphere such items are often a bit hit - particularly with younger guests. As with fairy lights, they don't cost a lot, but are a decorative item that is fun and makes an impression.

Finally, you should remember that most venues will opearte dimmers on their lighting, so by simply cranking the lights up or down a few notches, you can instantly go from a bright and airy feel to a more romantic or party based atmosphere.
