If eating and drinking were national sports, you’d have to think that we Brits would have a pretty good chance of picking up a couple of Olympic medals (albeit the Yank’s and Aussie’s would probably walk away with the two golds!).

So bearing in mind how much we all like our bevy’s and our tucker, on one of the most important days of our lives, it is crucial that we get the food and drink ‘just right’.

The easiest thing to start with is the food.

Think about how many times you plan to eat during the wedding and at what time in the day the food will be served. Typically if you are having a bespoke day reception and separate evening one, then food will be served during each element of the day. However, if you are starting later on, at 4pm say, and flowing straight through till midnight, then perhaps just one meal served around 6pm will satisfy.

As soon as you’ve made the final decision as to when the meals will be eaten, you can then start to decide what will be served, how it will be served and how the drinks will work.

From a formal silver service Wedding Breakfast to a casual BBQ on the evening, there are a lot of choices when it comes to wedding food. And from welcome drinks and toasting drinks, to table drinks and bar service there’s quite a lot to think about with the drink element as well.

Luckily, we’ve put together a number of articles in this part of the site that explain all of your options in detail and include suggestions for what drinks to serve as well as some sample menus. We’ve a smattering of top notch money saving tips too so you can ensure that you can both have your cake, and afford to eat it!

So, assuming you know when you plan to eat during the day, there’s no better time than the present to take a closer look at the options open to you.
