There are two types of Fork Buffet, both of which are quite suitable for your Wedding Breakfast.  The first is a Gourmet version of a Finger Buffet serving sliced meats, this is typically referred to as a 'Cold' Buffet. The second is a Hot Buffet, where the main course is served from hot plates.  It could be a carvery, or a selection of hot dishes like those detailed in the example menu below.  The biggest benefit of either of these over a traditional sit down meal is that it allows your guests some degree of choice. For both of these, typically a single starter and dessert option are served by waiters in the normal way but guests then get a choice of foods for their main course and will be served (or serve themselves) from a table containing platters of food or hotplates. A hot buffet is less practical for serving on an evening as there will simply be too much going on to organise guests enough to provide this kind of Buffet.

Possible Menu Options for a Cold Buffet

  • Hand Carved Honey Roast Ham
  • New Potatoes in a parsley & Mustard Dressing
  • Darn of Salmon in a Coriander & Lime Dressing, Whisped in Hollandaise Sauce
  • Stilton, Cherry Tomatoes & Basil Tartlets
  • Prime Carve Roast Beef with a New Potato and Horseradish Dressing
  • Chargrilled Pork layered with Apple Stuffing and Glazed with Tomatoes and Red Onion Marmalade
  • Breaded Prawn Kebabs with Wild Rice
  • Mixed Leaf Salad
  • Tangerine & Coleslaw Salad
  • Beetroot & Red Cabbage Salad
  • Crusty Bread with Butter
  • Mangetout and Baby Spinach Salad
  • Feta and Olive Cous-Cous Salad
  • Mozzarella with Tomato & Basil Salad
