Purples, whatever the shade, are a particularly popular option for the colour scheme these days. Itís easy to understand why too - they are one of the few colours that can be both masculine and feminine at the same time and appeal to both the new romantics and heavy metal fans amongst us!

Darker versions of the colour can integrate with a Fairy Tale Wedding theme perfectly whilst lighter shades complement reds and pinks in a Valentines themed Wedding perfectly. They are also an all year round colour, with the darker, warmer shades working well at Winter weddings whilst the lighter shades can showcase a Summer wedding perfectly.

Purples are often combined with other purples in a Wedding colour scheme to dramatic and stunning effect, although they can also integrate seamlessly with a multitude of other colours too. Purples can coordinate with pinks through to lemons, although as with most colour combinations, we suggest that you pay careful consideration to exact shading so as not to have them clash. Silver and chrome works particularly well with purple and can provide a modern, contemporary look and feel, but gold too can also integrate with purple and does so to great effect with a darker shade for Winter weddings.

Flowers are one of the easiest and most dramatic ways to showcase your colour scheme and there are a wide range of purple flowers that you may wish to choose should you wish. A number of the most popular ones are listed below:

         Sweet Peas

If you are choosing purple, factor it into all aspects of the day from embroidery on the Wedding Dress, to supporting colours on the stationery. The Bridesmaids should obviously be wearing the colour, whilst the groom and male attendants outfits should have matching neckpieces and waistcoats / cummerbunds. Purple is a lavish, sultry and sophisticated colour, so make sure to include it in favours, table confetti, balloons and decorations, not to mention the flowers. Elderberries, blackcurrants and grapes spread around the venue also make a natural and tasty way of showcasing your colour scheme.
