Whilst all the planning and budgeting that needs to be done may seem a little scary to you at the moment, you must remember that you are not alone and help will be readily available from numerous people.

For a start, you are about to enter into a long-term partnership based on sharing and equality. Why not begin by taking equal responsibility for planning the Big Day and sharw all the tasks that lie ahead? Historically, it has been the women who have taken the lead in the planning, but with the advent of the ‘modern man’ it is now much more common for couples to share the burden of Wedding organisation. Sure, there are certain things then only the woman gets to do, like choose the Wedding Dress, but on the whole you will find that most tasks become easier and less stressful if the workload is shared with your partner.

There are others who can help as well. The Mother of the Bride and (less common) the Mother of the Groom, often have many opinions (as I’m sure you will find out for yourselves!) but in most cases they are also more than happy to roll their sleeves up and get stuck into helping out with the planning. The bridesmaids, in particular the Chief Bridesmaid, are also there to assist, and to a smaller extent other members of the wedding party such as the Best Man, Ushers and Fathers of the Bride/Groom may also be willing to chip in. The Roles and Responsibilities section is extremely useful and provides in-depth information concerning what help you can expect from the Wedding Party.

Finally, there are a whole load of resources available to you, from books and magazines to Wedding websites such as this one. Friends ‘who have been there before’ may able to provide useful insights and hints and tips, whilst venue wedding planners and even bespoke Wedding Coordinators, albeit at a cost, are experts at getting you just what you want. The special pages on Wedding Coordinators, within this section of the site, may help you to decide whether or not you wish to go down this route.

In short, help is at hand from all around, you just have to ask.
