Highland Waistcoats

Special waistcoats have been developed by a number of outfitters exclusively for use with Prince Charlie and Argyll Jackets. Featuring five squared silver buttons and a traditional waistcoat cut, Highland waistcoat are normally only available in a few colours (black, grey, navy and green are the usual suspects) and it is traditional to wear a waistcoat in the same colour as the jacket.

Lowlander & Jacobite Waistcoats

The Lowlander and Jacobite waistcoats are traditional items from North of the Border that help to add a degree of formality and a sense of tradition to the Groom and Groomsmen when worn with a Ghillie shirt. Lowlander waistcoats are worn open and feature a straight cut, epaulets and two silver buttons just above the hem. Jacobite waistcoats are again worn open and feature a straight cut that juts back towards the hip before extending downwards covering the pockets. The waistcoat has 3, 4 or 5 silver buttons and has elongated shoulders which extend outwards. The waistcoats are available in a variety of colours and materials, but we would not recommend that you only consider them for use with a Ghillie shirt.

Cummerbunds

The ideal accompaniment to a bow tie, the cummerbund is a coloured piece of material that fastens behind the back and is wrapped around the midrift, covering the top of the trousers. Made from a single piece of material, the cummerbund is stitched in such a way that it provides an overlapped look (usually 4 overlaps) and matches with the colour of the bow tie. Simple and effective, the cummerbund is an ideal item to be worn with a Dinner Suit.
