There are tons of shoe options available for bridesmaids, from casual flip-flops through to formal stilettos. This article takes a look at how to determine what the maids will wear on their feet when they escort thr Bride down the aisle.
The most important thing is for the shoes to be comfortable and comfort is defined differently for different people - probably the worst thing is for everyone to wear the same shoes (we are referring to style here – not sharing a pair between all of your Bridesmaids!).
Some people are most comfortable in heels, and whilst you can make taller bridesmaids wear flatter shoes to boost your profile on the day you may struggle to persuade your vertically challenged maids to wear 3 inch stilettos. Similarly some women prefer to wear styles which hold their feet in place whereas others like court shoes or mules.
Given shoes are the key to happy feet, allow your bridesmaids to select their own footwear, though most sensibly this should be within your guidelines or, even better, from a selection you have already picked out.
Once style has been selected you need to make sure you can get all of the different styles in the appropriate colour. Most people select ivory as it is easy to buy these from different shops and buy different manufacturers and still have colours which match. However another option is to buy ‘proper’ bridesmaids’ shoes. A number of the larger high street shops (as well as bespoke outfitters of course) sell a range of bridesmaid footwear allowing you to select the exact style you want - most of these come in the same ivory satin. One benefit of this is that you can then have all of the shoes dyed to match either the dress or another of the weddings colours. You may want to consider going for something a little different, fuschia shoes to compliment a pale pink dress or red to create interest in a classy black tie affair.
