Winged collar shirt
By far the most popular choice when it comes for shirts for the male Wedding Party members, the winged collar soars head and shoulders above its counterparts (apologies for the poor pun). Like the double-cuffed shirt, the winged collar also has fold-back cuffs and requires cufflinks, but the difference comes when we look at the collar. A quick glance from the front, and you could easily mistake the winged collar for the double-cuff, but closer inspection will quickly reveal the difference. Whilst the double-cuff has a fold-down collar that runs all the way around the neck, the winged collar, put simply, has two little wings that fold over at the front but quickly taper back to leave the remainder of the tie around the neck exposed. From side or rear view, the tie around the neck is fully exposed and the only collar visible is that underneath the tie and against the neck. The winged collar is ideal for just about any outfit – Prince Edwards, Frocks, Tailcoats, Nouveau’s, Prince Charlie’s, Argyll’s, Tail Suits and Dinner Suits all work wonderfully with the winged collar, in fact it is only lounge suits look a little odd. With a look that complements virtually every style it is easy to see why winged collar shirts are so popular and why virtually every outfitter you visit will recommend that you plump for one.
Nehru shirt
Nehru shirts are characterised by their short (one to two inch) stand-up round collar with no lapels. Worn without a tie and sometimes left open, but more often than enough fastened and accompanied by a collar stud, the Nehru is contemporary and different. I guess they could be worn with any jacket, although the result would be a little odd, therefore it is best to only consider one when plumping for a Nouveau Jacket.
