The most important thing is for the shoes to be comfortable and comfort is defined differently for different people. You will be wearing these shoes for a good number of hours - even if you have a different pair for the evening.
Think about the shoes you already own and decide which ones are the most comfortable. Once you have done this consider why you find them so comfy. Is it:
Once you know what makes your feet happy you need to select the colour. Decide how important it is to you to get an exact match with your dress - if the answer is very then opt for satin shoes which can be professionally dyed to match the fabric of your outfit.
You can always opt for a neutral colour which are easier to pick up at high street shops which enables you to save a little bit on cost. Think about wearing brown with cream or beige, black with grey or silver, navy with blues or even lilacs, or ivory with any number of pastel colours.
Again you could always think about being a little more daring with your footwear selection, contrast a pale pink dress with fuschia or use red to create a flash of colour at a classy black tie affair. Though if you think you’re going to go with something like this (particularly the second suggestion) it might just be worth running it past the Bride as she may have something like this up her own sleeve!
Whatever footwear you opt for, just remember that you will be spending many an hour in them and will be on your feet for quite a lot of time (perhaps even boogying away in them). With this in mind, you may well want to buy them a few weeks before hand and wear them once to break them in.
