Firstly, don’t feel that you must wear a hat or headpiece. For a lot of women a wedding provides the perfect excuse to wear something on your head but stick to your guns, if you don’t feel comfy wearing one, then don’t!
That said, for those of you reading this article, the chances are that you are strongly considering something to adorn your flowing locks, so without further ad, let’s take a closer look at your options.
Hats
When choosing a hat make sure you allow enough time - the first time you go shopping for a hat you will have a lot of decisions to make. Try on as many hats as possible, wide-brimmed hats, tall hats, ornate hats, even floppy hats. Hats are supposed to be worn firmly in place on your head, not placed tentatively atop of you barnet and not right at the back on the crown. They can, once in the correct position, be slightly angled to create a little mystery and interest!
By trying a full range of hats you can pinpoint which features suit your face shape. Make sure you also try on some fascinators (ornate head pieces attached into your hair with a comb or grips – see below). By the end of your first shopping trip you should have a good idea of what you want - you then just need to find it in the right colour.
Make sure you brush up on your hat etiquette prior to the wedding as well - guests look to the Mothers of the Bride and Groom for direction with regard to removing hats so it is important you have your plan carefully laid out.
