…and the Mother of the Groom too! Whatever happens don’t get drawn in to the trap that the Bride’s mum is all important and the Groom’s is a minor after-thought.

So first things first, it is important that both mum's know what the other will be wearing. It is not even worth contemplating the trauma caused by two women turning up on such an important day with outfits that really can not be seen on the same photo for fear of blinding the photographer.

It is also important that both mum's work together to complement one another. This is not to say however that the mums need to look like they came as a BOGOF (buy one get one free for those of you who have never seen any of those double glazing ads on the telly!), but it would be ideal if they both complement the days’ colours and each other. Some suggestions of how this could work in practice include lilac and lemon to complement a romantic theme of pinks and whites or team ivory and golds with rich colours like a deep red and navy.

The other thing to make sure that both mums are aware of, and will comply with, is the ‘dress code’. The last thing you want is one mum turning up in a classy burgundy suit whilst the other one wears her one-of-a-kind, designer cocktail dress, trimmed from head to toe in sequins and gemstones - responding to your open mouthed stare with a ‘well, you said Navy!’

There are a number of bespoke Mother of the Bride (and Groom remember!) outfitters these days with a huge array of stunning outfits that would look fantastic on the day. Of course, for those of you on a budget, the local high street stockists also have a number of outfits at cheaper prices that can look equally as stunning. We would advise that all Mum’s check out the bespoke outfitters first, if nothing else, to get an idea of what is in vogue.

With so much choice available, and to help you narrow down your options, why don’t all you mum’s out there take a quick read of the articles entitles ‘Tips for Mum’s’, 'Types of Outfit', ‘Hats & Headpieces’ and ‘Shoes’.
