Prince Edwards
AKA: ‘¾ Suit’, ‘The Edward’.
Intro: The Price Edward is now perhaps the most popular style of Morning Wear, and hence the most popular Men’s Formal Wedding Attire overall, in the UK today. It has a traditional, yet contemporary look and really makes an impression.
The Look: The Prince Edward features a ¾ length jacket and a perfect fit will see the bottom of the jacket resting midway between the hip and the knee. With typical suit lapels and three or four buttons (not usually fastened), the Prince Edward is available in a huge range of colours, from traditional black or grey, through to bottle red and cream - it is even available in different materials, and for all you modern Grooms, crushed velvet and mohair Prince Edwards are readily available across the country these days.
Essential Extras: A waistcoat is an essential item for those of you heading down the Prince Edward route and is a great way to jazz up the look. Trousers (even more essential than the waistcoat!) are usually plain in colour and match the jacket, although many Grooms do opt for striped trousers – either way, both like superb. Both plain collar and winged collar shirts work well with the look and can be accompanied by either a cravat, plain tie or European tie, although a ruche looks particularly striking.
Finishing Touches: Handkerchiefs and pocket watches provide a fantastic finish to a Prince Edward outfit.
