In the past, the outfits for the Groom and his gang were chosen by the Bride and her posse of Bridesmaids (not to mention the Groom’s Mother and future Mother-in-Law), however in recent years times have changed.
These days, men have become much more involved in the whole planning of a wedding and Groom’s up and down the country are now choosing their own outfit, and those for the rest of the male wedding Party, for themselves.
Unlike with the women, where the Bride wears an individual (and usually financially crippling) outfit which stands out from, and is completely different to, her bridesmaids, who in-turn each wear a dress that can be different in colour from one another and with different cuts to hide the Buddha belly or bingo wings, and the Mother’s of the Bride and Groom head out to spend an extortionate amount on bespoke suits for the day, the men have it much easier. The Best Man, the Usher(s), the Page Boy(s) and the Father’s of the Bride and Groom all will wear pretty much the same outfit and in the vast majority of cases the Groom will join them.
A quick glance through a formal menswear brochure or through the window of a high street window will quickly highlight the number of options out there for the male Wedding Party members. Gone are the days when top hat and tails were the choice of the connoisseur, these days anything from purple crushed velvet frock coats or Hawaiian shirts accompanied by Panama hats can work just as well as their traditional counterparts.
