You need to consider whether you would prefer to go for something which contrasts your gown (e.g. straps or sleeves to complement your strapless gown) or to complement your dress by having all of the gowns strapless but the bridesmaids in a different style skirt. Remember too, you can give your maid of honour a wrap or a sweep train to make her stand out from the rest of your maids.
Try to be sympathetic to your bridesmaids’ physical foibles. It is very easy to get swept away with the appearance of the whole day but in your endeavours to hide your own curvaceous hips or wobbly arms acknowledge that these may be concerns of the rest of the women in the Wedding Party. You need everyone to be looking their best and feeling confident and self-assured. With this in mind however, feel free to tell your perfect 10 of a friend to ‘get over it’ when she complains that the dress you’ve chosen for her would look better if it showed her figure off a little more!
Junior Bridesmaids/Flower Girls
Whilst you want all of your bridesmaids to co-ordinate it is important to remember that you can do this without dressing a 5-year old up as a prom queen. Clearly some of your young maids will jump at the chance to dress up like the older girls and often ornate adult dresses are available to better compliment a less developed figure. However even these softer styled dresses are not meant for a youngster, so be aware of this when making the decision.
