There are a number of accessories that Bridesmaids, both young and old, can wear. The following article takes a brief look at just some of the options available.
The most popular accessory for bridesmaids is a wrap, either in chiffon, organza or (for when the weather is a little cooler), satin or velvet. The wrap can be bought in any colour, though ivory or a colour to match the dress are the most popular options.. A key benefit with the wrap is as the day gets colder, it will keep your bridesmaids warm (and happy!) but in addition may make some of your ‘maids with upper arm issues (dare we say ‘bingo wings’!) a little more comfortable if they are wearing a sleeveless dress. Obviously the wrap is not an essential item so if you are looking for an alternative why not try a bolero. We are not referring to that dance that Torville and Dean skated to when they won gold, instead we are referring to the short, cropped, jacket that sits over the top of a dress. It has a more formal look to it that the wrap, and wedding versions are often thinner than their non-wedding counterparts. Ideal for Summer weddings when there is a chill on the night, but not so ideal for winter weddings when there is frost on the ground.
One of the most traditional accessories for bridesmaids are lace gloves. Less popular at the moment than they were in the 1980’s, but you bet your bottom dollar on it that they will make a comeback at some point soon so if you (the Bride that is) have a liking for them don’t discount them out of turn.
