Duration Options
When it comes down to how long to go away for, you have a number of options open to you. The cost of the extra nights is probably the major factor couples look at when determining how long to go for, but there are other things to consider. Couples should also consider what there is to do at the resort and extra spending money needed for example.
We have highlighted the duration options open to couples below, and also take a look at the main pro’s and con’s of each.
Over-Nighter (1 night only): On the plus side, it shouldn’t cost the earth but conversely you won’t be around long enough to experience all there is to offer.
Short Break (2-4 nights away): Ideal for a city break where there is lots to do, but perhaps not enough to keep you occupied for longer. On the negative side, if it takes quite a long time to travel to your destination then you may feel that you have spent more time travelling than anything else.
Mid-length Break (7-10 day break): Ideal for a beach holiday, and you’ll really feel the benefit if you extend your stay till 10 days. Gives you a good chance to relax and know your surroundings, but could leave you wishing you’d paid the extra to stay fourteen nights near the end of the stay.
The Norm (14 day break): A fortnight is the most common holiday duration for Honeymooning couples and it really will give you the chance to see and experience everything your resort has to offer. On the flipside, you could end up being a bit bored come week two.
There for the long haul (15 days +): Obviously such an option will cost more although it could well be worth it if you are heading somewhere with loads to do or that has taken a really long time to get there (Australia and New Zealand are prime examples). The big negative is that getting permission to take this long off work (especially considering you may have had a few days off prior to your Wedding also) can be tricky.
