With the destination's glamour and glitz taking centre stage it's often easy to overlook the practical element of honeymoon transport and travel.
There isn't a huge number of things to arrange on this front, but it is important that you don't forget to do them. This article highlights the key areas you need to consider and looks to ensure that you aren't left high and dry!
- Car Parking: Many couples will choose to drive themselves to the departure point, be it the airport, ferry terminal or train station – but not all of these couples will remember to sort out where their car will hang out for the duration of their time away. Car parking is easy to arrange and the competition in the market means that good prices are easily attainable. Of course, car parking isn't just for those who are travelling abroad, it is just as essential for those honeymooning here in the UK. If you are staying in this country, don’t assume that where you’re on honeymoon will have car parking on site. Remember to check this out and sort out suitable arrangements in advance to avoid unnecessary hassle on arrival.
- Taxis: If you are not planning to drive to the departure point or haven’t managed to scam a lift off a friend or relative, then you will need to arrange for a transfer. Usually by taxi, (although you can book an alternative such as a limo if you’re feeling flush) you need to factor in how much luggage as well as the number of passengers (you may be travelling with your kids) before making the booking. Consider arranging return transport also, or at the very least getting the number for a reliable cab firm.
- Transfers / Car Rental: Once you arrive at your destination you will need to be able to get to your actual accommodation. Transfers by coach or taxi are the norm, although you may have decided to get a hire car. Whatever your decision, just make sure that something is arranged or you could end up feeling like Tom Hanks in the film ‘The Terminal’!
