• Give each other a gift: It needn’t be expensive, but it is traditional for the Bride and Groom to buy each other a small gift and what better place to exchange them than on your honeymoon. Lingerie and jewellery are common ones, but don’t be restricted to the norm, use your imagination.

• Try out each others favourite hobby: Whether it’s golf or salsa, we all have hobbies that our partner has no interest in!What better time than your honeymoon to give something like this a whirl and have a great laugh along the way.

• Upgrade your plane ticket: Whether you go half-way and get extra leg room or the full way and go first class, start your honeymoon as you mean to go on – in style. It will cost you a few hundred quid at least, but if you are willing to risk it, you may be able to negotiate a discount if you book at the airport itself (or alternatively, try blagging!).

• Do a once-in a-lifetime activity: Go swimming with dolphins or diving with sharks for example. Whatever it is, just make sure that is something neither of you has done before to make it extra special.
