Honeymoon Destinations

Traditionally, it is the Groom who arranges then books the honeymoon, and if wedding convention is to be followed to the letter, he should also look to make it a complete surprise for the Bride and pay for it all too!

However, we are now in the 21st Century, and only a handful of Weddings each year are followed up by a honeymoon in which the Bride has had no planning, preparation and financial involvement (let’s face it, whilst it is not as romantic, there’s far less risk this way!)

If you are the Groom and are planning to do things all off your own back, let’s first start with a couple of pieces of advice:

  • Check with the Bride that she is OK with your plans. Many Brides will want to be involved in arranging the Honeymoon and will not appreciate being pushed to the side, even if your intention is purely gallant.
  • Build a picture in your own mind of what the Bride expects from the honeymoon and book somewhere according to both your desires, not just your own!
  • Read ALL the information on Weddingsday with regards honeymoons and then research things yourself even further – this is the holiday of a lifetime and to approach it too casually would be foolish.

On the other hand, if you are the Bride and your partner is planning a surprise booking:

  • Drop subtle hints about what you want from your honeymoon as early as possible.
