Honeymoon Destinations

After months, perhaps years, of planning, and one non-stop day of fun and excitement, the honeymoon provides a welcome change of tempo.

The honeymoon allows the newlyweds some time to relax, to put their feet up and to spend some quality time together for the first time as a married couple. Whether it is three nights in Bognor or three weeks in Barbados, it does not really matter. What matters is that the a couple is together and enjoying themselves.

When thinking about the honeymoon, there is a heck of a lot to think about. Where to go (check out the Honeymoon Destinations section for ideas and advice on this front), how long to go for, when to go (yes that’s right, you don't need to go straight away!), how much to spend, what visa's and documents are needed, and what to do when you get there are just some things that you will need to consider. But don't worry, Weddingsday is here to help with tons of articles packed full of useful info.

Before we get fully stuck into things, we thought it wise to answer one of the most common trivia questions that we get asked here at Weddingsday; ‘Why is it called a honeymoon?’. Well tradition has it that in ye olde times, following a wedding, the Bride and Groom would drink a daily goblet of mead (a wine made from honey) for a month solid (referred to as a moon) – hence the phrase honeymoon came to fruition!

So with the folklore lesson over, it's on with the show - check out the links from the left hand menu to begin your journey.
