Best Time to Visit Las Vegas

Las Vegas is relatively hot and dry most of the year round. July to September is monsoon season so thunder storms are frequent bringing with them sudden downpours and impressive lightening displays. The winters are typically mild but temperatures can still hit freezing in the coldest months. April to June, October and November have the best weather if you are looking for mostly dry days where it's not too hot, and are probably the best months to head overseas for a Las Vegas honeymoon or Las Vegas wedding.

Best Beaches in Las Vegas

The fact that it's over 250 miles to the nearest coastline doesn’t stop Las Vegas from having some unbelievable beaches - granted they perhaps aren’t of the standard of the Caribbean or Mauritius, but with everything else that Vegas has to offer they are just what’s needed after a few days of non-stop activity. On the Las Vegas Strip, the pool at the Mandalay Bay recreates a tropical lagoon including a fabulous white, sandy beach. If you want a few days away from the bright lights, try a stay at Montelago Village at the west end of Lake Mead which has a stunning beach constructed from 350 tons of imported white sand.

For Activity Lovers

In the city that never sleeps you really can do pretty much anything your heart desires. Golf is particularly popular with the best courses being Shadow Creek (exclusive to MGM Mirage Properties), Reflection Bay and The Falls (about 30 mins from the strip). A wide range of water sports are available from nearby Lake Mead and other pursuits such as horse riding, mountain biking through Cottonwood Valley, hiking and rock climbing are also available.

Local Flavours of Las Vegas

Fine dining is widely available in Las Vegas and all of the main hotels have a selection of top class restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world. That said the buffet restaurants, and there is normally at least one in each hotel, are a feast to behold. For next to nothing you can eat enough to fill up for you most of the day. If you have a sweet tooth try the Cheesecake Factory in the Forum shops at Cesears Palace which is also home to the City’s first Caviareteria.

On a Night in Las Vegas

The casino’s are just the tip of this Nevadan hot-spot. Shows are a massive draw, with broadway-esque productions, performances from musical legends, Cirque du Soleil, magic acts and, of course, Elvis impersonators available on-tap.

If clubbing is your thing, most hotels have at least one nightspot for dancing the night away, whilst Vegas is also a major sporting venue for top boxing and UFC bouts. As well as entertainment that you'll pay for, the Strip also has a whole host of free entertainment. The dancing fountains at the Bellagio Hotel, M&M world, the erupting volcano in front of the Mirage and the Sirens of Treasure Island are just some of the current offerings.

Shopping in Las Vegas

Each resort has it's own themed stores, boutiques and mini-outlets by the bucket load, all primed to entice high-rollers and big winners in to buy the goods - the Wynn Resort even has a Maserati and Ferrari dealership! The Forum Shops at Ceasers Palace are home to an unbelievable collection of high-end stores along with designer fashion boutiques. The Fashion Show Mall is a great place for high street stores but for bargains and outlet shopping try one of the factory outlets just a short taxi-ride away.

Top Resorts in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has a number of smaller resorts, but most of the activity is centred around 'the Strip'. There you'll find a a number of mind-boggling hotels, each with something different to offer its residents. The most exclusive hotels include Caesars Palace, the Wynn and the world renowned Bellagio. For a Rock and Roll experience you can’t surpass the Hard Rock Hotel, or for somewhere a little cheaper, give the Excalibur a whirl. You are free to wonder from hotel to hotel and access all of the attractions each has to offer - this is a fact well worth keeping in mind for those looking to book a Las Vegas honeymoon or Las Vegas wedding.

Out & About in Las Vegas

No trip to Las Vegas is complete without an excursion to the Grand Canyon. Second on the list has to be the Hoover Dam. For something a little bit different take a drive to the real ‘live’ ghost-town of Rhyolite. For points of interest closer to the action check out the Liberace museum and the Fremont Street Experience. Remember that most of the great things about Las Vegas are based in and around the hotels. All of the main hotels on the Strip have a host of activities hidden within them from the lion habitat at the MGM Grand and King Tut’s tomb and museum at the Luxor, to Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay and Adventuredrome, the USA’s largest indoor theme park at Circus Circus. Finally, check out Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory where a self-guided tour full of chocolatey goodness will have you captivated!
