According to reports, Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has bagged a £1.5million deal with 'Hello!' magazine for exclusive rights to his wedding story and snaps.
Wayne hasn't even set a date for the propsed marriage to fiancee Coleen McLoughlin, but already the glossies are clambering for a piece of the action. The reported deal, which crushes the £1million fee paid by 'Hello!' for rights to the Liz Hurley/Arun Nayar shindig, is a record fee for such an event.
Rooney and McLoughlin are said to have signed the deal having been impressed by the security arrangements and coverage of the Hurley/Nayar wedding, and tabloid speculation cites summer 2008 as the most likeliest time for the wedding to take place (presumably just after England have been knocked out of the European Championships on penalties!).
If a 2008 wedding is on the cards, the couple, who were engaged in 2003 and have been together since 2001, could save bookmakers William Hill a small fortune. After opening a book on the first 'celebrity' couple to get married in 2007, Hill's were forced to stop taking bets on Wayne and Colleen following a surge of cash for the Manchester based couple. However, if a 2007 wedding does take place, at least the bookies have recouped some of their losses after the weekend announcment that Prince William and Kate Middleton have split.
