The last time such an affair took place at the Vatican involving members of the British aristocracy, was some four hundred years ago. However, history was rewritten at the weekend when Lord Nicholas Windsor (the youngest son of the Duke and Duchess of Kent) and his fiancee, Paola Doimi de Frankopan, tied the knot.
Following a royal blessing from the Queen (who along with Prince Charles was unable to attend), the Catholic ceremony took place and was conducted by Alan Hopes, the auxiliary bishop of Westminster.
The Reception that followed the Service took place at the Palazzo Doria Pamphili and the couple are said to be jetting off on honeymoon to an unconfirmed location 'somewhere outside Europe'.
So, whilst we initially overlooked the inclusion of 'The Vatican' in the Wedding Venues section of our Supplier Directory, I guess now may be a good time to reconsider.....but then again, perhaps not!
