Following a whirlwind romance, Michael Flatley (aka 'the Lord of the Dance') and Niamh O'Brien (a dancer herself who has appeared alongsdide Michael in a number of his prodcutions) tied the knot just before 3pm this afternoon. Both fans and paparazzi were out in force as the Groom arrived in an open-topped Merc, followed shortly by the Bride in a black and silver Rolls Royce Silver Phantom (which Michael had bought specifically for the occasion).
The expense didn't stop there. The stunning dress (an empire-line Badgley Mischka gown accesoried with a fish-tail veil) worn by Niamh was rumoured to cost just under £80,000, and her wedding ring around £300,000. The whole event is rumoured to have cost well in excess of £1 million!
Following the service at St. Patrick's Church, Femoy, the couple and their guests headed off to Castlehyde (the stately home recently renovated by the Groom). A six-course banquet awaited the Wedding Party and guests comprising lobster, foie gras champagne.
The highlight of the 'Evening Do' was naturally the first dance. To the strains of Sinatra's 'Fly Me to the Moon' the coouple hot-footed it around the dancefloor as though they were naturals!
The couple are now off on their honeymoon, but they don't have long - a 2 day break (rumoured to be in a castle in County Kerry) is all they can afford (timewise!) as rehearsals for Michael's new show, Celtic Tiger, begin next week.
'Best of luck Michael and Niamh' from everyone here at Weddingsday, and if there is any spare bottles of wine (or leftover scraps of food for that matter), you know where to send it!
