OK, so you've drawn up the guest list and you're happy with the people who've made it. So what next? Now, you need to begin the communication process with everyone who has been invited.
There are quite a few things that the guests will need to know, many of which are often overlooked by couples with a lot to do and nowhere near enough time to do it. Luckily, this article outlines all the key bits of information the guests will need from you, along with details of when they need to it and how best to inform them.
So if you're ready, let's make a start.
Dates & Times
What – Details of both the date and time of the wedding, including the start and end times for both the day and evening events.
When – ASAP, at least 6 weeks beforehand, although we recommend much earlier
How – Via the wedding invites
Venue
What – The name (and address) of both the service and reception venues.
When – At the same time they are informed of the date and times.
How – Via the wedding invites. The address element can be issued either via the invite itself, inserts within the invite, or at a later date by phone.
Directions
What – Directions to the service venue and, if different, directions to the reception venue.
When – When the invites are issued, or on request.
How – Via the invite itself or at a later date by phone - if you want to achieve a professional look, you could even enlist the services of a mapping organisation, who will produce you a bespoke map and directions just for you and your guests! Other options include getting the Ushers to hand out directions to the reception venue before or after the service, or to place all directions on a wedding website.
