Choosing when to propose may seem simple at first, and compared to picking the wedding date it is (trust us, you’ll find this out!) However, here are a few engagement proposal ideas that you may want to consider before setting the date in stone.
Let's see, you have a maximum of 366 days to choose from so that numbers it down for a start! Next, tradition has it that the 29th of February is reserved for ladies to propose to gentlemen, so that potentially removes one option.
Do you really want to propose on April Fool’s Day? (April 1st in case you didn’t know) – if not, that’s 364, and whilst New Years Day is quite popular, after 12 pints on the stroke of midnight to be honest isn’t the most romantic time to propose (January 1st for those of you who are reading this having already drunk 12 pints!).
After that we’re struggling slightly – to be honest there is no hard and fast rule so it is down to you to choose from the remaining 363, or why not go for February 29th, April 1st or January 1st just to spite us!
You should ask yourself however whether you wish to combine the proposal with another special occasion – days such as Christmas and birthday’s are popular but many hold the belief that these days are worthy enough for celebration without the extra impact of an engagement. Likewise, believe it or not, quite a few proposals take place at other people’s weddings – but some would say that it is their day not yours, and it may come across that you have been swept away in the moment.
At this stage you may have an engagement proposal idea of your own in mind, particularly in terms of the 'how'. If you are thinking of popping the question in a hot air balloon, then perhaps the middle of December is not the best time. Likewise, those of you who wish to whisk your partner away to somewhere tropical to propose may wish to ensure that it’s not monsoon season!
