Now that the ring’s on the finger, it is time to let the world (or perhaps just your nearest and dearest) know about it.
Whether its family, friends or work colleagues you will probably want to tell them all. Once you are engaged come up with a plan for how you'll make your engagement announcements (you don’t need anything formal, just discuss as a couple how you want to approach it), and think about who to you tell first and how.
If you already have children, they should be top of your list, followed closely by parents. You will also need to decide whether to tell certain relatives or if you are happy for your parents to let the family know – I’m sure they’ll be more than eager to tell people on your behalf!
With regards what to say when you tell people, don’t rehearse a speech, just sit there and let the words flow – you’ll find it all comes very naturally.
Whilst formal engagement announcements in a newspaper is much less popular than in the past, don’t let this put you off – if you wish to shout it from the rooftops, go for it, it’s your time.
