City of Cardiff: The Welsh capital of Cardiff has undergone somewhat of a renaissance in recent years. The cosmopolitan bars and restaurants down in Cardiff Bay sit perfectly alongside the historic castle and Edwardian arcades, making it one of the most modern yet historic cities in the UK. Time your arrival correctly and you may even be able to take in a game of football or rugby at the stunning Millennium Stadium.
