On a Night: We’ve mentioned the word ‘diverse’ already when talking about South Africa, but perhaps this is most evident when it comes to the country’s nightlife. Everything from cinemas and fancy restaurants, through to trendy nightspots and traditional Zulu music and dancing, South Africa offers it all. The Victoria and Albert waterfront in Cape Town offers a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and bars, but if it is something more traditional you are after head inland.
Shopping: Whether it’s local artefacts or modern-day retail therapy you’re after, then South Africa is for you. Bottles of wine are a top tourist take-away, as are the traditional souvenirs featuring Zulu or Swazi designs. African masks, statues and even ostrich eggs are popular with tourists or why not head to one of the major cities and grab yourself a 21st century bargain.
Top Resorts: Diverse is the best way to describe South Africa. From the purpose built resort of Sun City towards the North of the country with it’s countless attractions, to some of the world’s greatest wildlife in Kruger National Park. The bustling and lively cities of Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Durban offer visitors everything from beaches to culture and contrast with the relaxed and naturally stunning southern Winelands and Garden Route. If you're after somewhere with plenty of options, a South Africa honeymoon or overseas wedding could be just the place for you.
Out & About: If you want to get back to nature, Shamwari Game Reserve is one of Africa’s finest safari haunts, or if that doesn’t appeal why not take in the spectacular sights of Table Mountain. Take a trip to historic Stellenbosch in the Winelands for a day of education for both the mind and the pallet. For those of you after history, a trip to Robben Island (the 18-year prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated) is emotional and inspiring, or for movie-buffs, head to Rorke's Drift, the setting for the 1964 Michael Caine classic ‘Zulu’ (I can hear you whistling ‘Men of Harlech’ in the background already!).
